Buisu Festival


The Buisu Festival, also known as Buisu, is a significant event celebrated by the Tripuri people of Tripura, India, and Bangladesh. This three-day festival marks the beginning of the new year in the Tripuri calendar '

- *(Hari Buisu)

The first day of the festival is dedicated to domestic animals, which are considered representatives of gods. People collect wild flowers, bathe and decorate their animals, and offer them special food . 

- *(Maha Buisu)

The second day is the main event, where people gather with friends and family, share food, and celebrate with music and dance. Women prepare traditional dishes and cakes,(cakes locally language Awan/owan) hile men engage in traditional sports and games .                     

- *(Traditional Activities) 

During the festival, people also engage in traditional activities like Lampra puja (worship for family welfare), preparation of traditional cakes like Awan Bangwi, and decorations of homes .


The Buisu Breima Festival is a vibrant celebration of Tripuri culture and traditions, and it's a great opportunity to experience the rich heritage of the region.
